Tag Archive: Modern Warfare

I wonder why that could be. Hmmm… Oh yes – neither of those games are exactly anything special. But I think I know the real reason; 3 words – Modern Warfare 2.

Okay, so that’s two words and a number. But still. Brütal Legend has sold 216,000 copies on both PS3 and Xbox 360 (combined) and DJ Hero has sold roughly 123,000 (across 4 different platforms = fail), compared to Uncharted 2: Among Thieves which has sold 537,000 copies & went Platinum within the first month of its release and of course Modern Warfare 2 that sold 4.7 million copies within 24 hours. And because of those 4.7 million sales, several games have had to be delayed so they wouldn’t have to compete:

Alright, that was a joke. But seriously now, why is this all so? Sure, it’s probably a fun game to play. But underneath all the hype, it’s just a sequel to yet another war game. I’ve seen games with 10-times the amount of imagination and work put into them that barely saw the light of day. And with gaming sites giving it your basic 9/10 scores, it just goes to show that even “the biggest launch in the history of all forms of entertainment” isn’t perfect.

I’m literally kicking myself and dreading the thought of what might happen when the inevitable Modern Warfare 3 comes out…

Modern Warfare 2 has sold millions… already…

Honestly, who’s buying this crap? Another war game with no dedicated servers, 18-player limit, no lean, no mods and is exactly the same as the last game.

I think I’ll pass. Actually, I know I’ll pass. Left 4 Dead 2 for me, thanks.

The Modern Warfare 2 Dedicated Servers Petition

I know I told everyone to shut up about it, but I just have to get this off my chest:

I never really looked at the petition until now (no, I haven’t signed it). But now that I have, Infinity War is definatley not going to listen.

The petition states: “Get Infinity Ward to review their decision not to allow fully dedicated servers for their forthcoming game release CoD:MW2. Remember that this Call of Duty was made popular by PC Gamers who have supported the series throughout.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned”

That is not a very detailed reason as to why they want dedicated servers. Asking IW to “review their decision” is just going to make them decide what they’ve already decided, because the petition doesn’t give them any reason to do otherwise. Although I must say I’m impressed by the amount of signatures (126632), but it isn’t going to make IW change their minds. They’re trying out new ideas and you’re just going to have to live with that. If you really don’t want matchmaking then just buy the Xbox 360 version. I’m sure you’ve all got one by now, due to the puny-minded fools that you are.

No Dedicated Servers for Modern Warfare 2

Quit bitching! Just be damn grateful that you’ll get to play the game at all! Even if it is gonna be exactly the same as every Call of Duty game ever. Please, for all the love that is holy, stop talking about it.

And before you ask, no I am not “signing” the petition to remove the IWNet matchmaking. I honestly couldn’t give a rat’s arse. Matchmaking works just fine and no matter how many people “sign” it, Infinity Ward (the developer) aren’t going to listen. Their mind’s made up, it’s too late. Get over it!

In the news today…

Is too much realism in video games a bad thing?

Here’s a quote from a James Portnow from The Escapist Magazine:

“Low points can be roughly sorted into two categories: the genuinely un-fun and the unsatisfying. Genuinely un-fun experiences are the purview of reality and have no place in games. For example, talk to any World War II veteran that served in the infantry, and they’ll tell you all about the marching. They spent 90 percent of their time walking to places and 10 percent fighting, and yet, for all the World War II games I’ve played, none of them includes a single march.

Well of course games don’t include marching you douche bag, that would be boring! Some people play games so they can do things that they couldn’t normally do in real life. If they wanted to march then they’d join the Gay Pride or something!

“If the German government continues to seek a ban on violent games, Crysis developer Crytek will take its ball and go home”, says CEO Cevat Yerli.

Makes no difference to me, or anyone for that matter. Crytek can just relocate to one of their other branches.
And personally I think it’s partly, if not completely, Germany’s fault for people wanting video games that contain guns and killing people. Remember when they knocked on Poland’s front door and asked for a cup of sugar and then punched them in the face?

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare is coming to the Nintendo Wii.

No doubt just another half-arsed Nintendo port of an otherwise decent FPS. Stick to your Mario games kids, this one isn’t going to interest you at all.

The Sims 3 is doing well, in fact it’s sold 3.7 million copies.

I don’t really care for The Sims anymore, nor do I have anything to say on this story. I just found it impressive that it’s sold so many copies in such a short time. Well done EA. And those are 3 words that I never thought I’d say in the same sentence.
